Building a Brighter Future, Together.

We’re tackling menstrual hygiene and environmental sustainability head-on.

One Pad at a Time

Over a lifetime, one menstruator can produce up to 125 kilograms of menstrual waste, with each sanitary pad taking over 500 years to decompose. In India, where proper waste segregation and disposal are often lacking, we are committed to climate action by normalizing the use of eco-friendly period products through increased accessibility.

To address this issue, we distributed eco-friendly reusable pads, non-leak disposable bags to safely manage menstrual waste and offered community education on proper disposal methods. We held more than 50 awareness sessions in government schools and villages to break the taboo surrounding menstruation.

Our efforts led to the distribution of more than 3,000 eco-friendly menstrual hygiene kits, including reusable pads and disposable bags. In addition, over 85,000 disposable and reusable sanitary pads were provided across Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. Sanitary pad vending machines were installed in municipal schools, ensuring access to menstrual products. As part of our work, we also conducted self-defense training sessions to further empower the women and girls in these communities and beyond.

EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES

Our initiatives help foster a cleaner, healthier, and more informed society. By providing the necessary resources about menstruation and reproductive health, we hope to eliminate the stigma and shame that often accompany these topics—especially in communities like those we’ve supported in India. Here’s what sets ours apart:

  • We create educational programs that are tailored to the needs of the different communities we work with.
  • Our team conducts comprehensive research in order to provide relevant information to our specific audience.
  • Whether through workshops, school programs, or community outreach, we remain consistently focused on informing women and girls of all ages.

With these pillars in place, we’re working towards creating a world where women are unafraid to take charge of their health.

Beyond the Products—We Provide Power.

Period Power’s initiatives are rooted in the belief that empowerment goes beyond just providing products—it’s about equipping women with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive.

That’s where our self-defense sessions and Taekwondo training come in. Led by experienced instructors passionate about our organization’s goals, these classes teach women and girls how to protect themselves, taking into account a wide variety of situations and environments. These skills not only boost confidence, but also reinforce the message that they have control of their own lives.
